Book travel (flights, trains, hotels): which AI agent to use

Researched, hands-on test pending

Our top pick: ChatGPT Plus (cloud browser). This write-up is based on research from public sources; we haven't tested it hands-on yet and will update this page when we do. Prices were checked on 31 October 2026 and can change.

Top pick: ChatGPT Plus with cloud browser

Official site: help.openai.com/en/articles/20001280-using-cloud-browser-in-chatgpt
What it does: Can go off and search flights, fill in booking forms and get a booking ready, then asks you to confirm before it books or pays.
Rough UK price: Plus £20/month (not on Free or Go)
Free tier: No. The browsing agent is paid plans only, in supported regions.
UK caveats: Older 'agent mode' write-ups are out of date: OpenAI's help pages now point to the cloud browser instead. Always check the final price yourself at checkout.
Don't use it if you are: Anyone uncomfortable letting an AI sign into travel sites for them.

Alternative: Perplexity

Official site: www.perplexity.ai
What it does: Fast, cited answers for 'cheapest way from Bristol to Edinburgh on a Friday', with links you can click through.
Rough UK price: Free; Pro £20/month in the iPhone app (web US$20/month)
Free tier: Yes, with a small daily allowance of Pro searches.
UK caveats: Fares change by the minute; use it to research, then book on the operator's site.
Don't use it if you are: People who want the booking done for them.
